"In addition to the precision, there is honest, raw humanity. JUXTAPOSE is about the power of connection, the power of memory, the power of imagination, and the power of hope. As you watch the show, you will also see the power of craftsmanship and the power of vision. It’s beautiful, timely, relatable, sorrowful, and absolutely exquisite. See it twice, if you can."

"Directed by Sabrina Mandell and Mark Jaster—two artists whose creative fingerprints are unmistakably all over the piece—the production is defined by its fluidity and its evanescence. Scenes bleed into one another; ideas appear, dissolve, and reconstitute themselves in altered form. Dance and motion are not decorative here but structural. Movement is the grammar through which this world speaks, and the performers execute it with a deceptive ease that belies the precision required. What looks spontaneous is, in fact, exquisitely choreographed."

"Spectacularly magical...Visually stunning. If you are looking for an entertaining, wonderfully weird, and provocatively thoughtful play, then this is one you do not want to miss.

JUXTAPOSE is set in a magical-realist tenement building
occupied by four eccentric characters trying to co-exist during the sixth mass extinction. Their lives are interrupted and illuminated
by a human shooting star who arrives through their roof.
The show is inspired in part by the shadow boxes of Joseph Cornell and the films of Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amélie) and Jacques Tati (Mon Oncle). Isolated objects are brought together within a frame to create poetic possibilities. As humanity teeters on the edge of the frame, JUXTAPOSE offers audiences a reminder that our shared mortality, our common humanity, the ability to laugh at fear and the limitless hope of imagination might save us from the despair of ending.

This show is recommended for ages 10 and older
but please feel free to bring your younger children if they are alright with loud air raid sirens, flashing lights and some drama. There is nothing explicitly inappropriate, just slightly more serious than some of our shows. (Don't worry, there are still laughs to be had...)
